Dhul Hijjah Appeal: The Most Blessed Days of the Year

As the sacred month of Dhul Hijjah approaches, we are reminded of the immense mercy, blessings, and opportunities Allah has placed within these ten days. Many of us await Ramadan eagerly — but did you know that the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are even more beloved to Allah?

The Prophet ﷺ said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.”(Reported by Bukhari)

🕋 What is Dhul Hijjah?

Dhul Hijjah is the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar. It holds major significance as it contains:

  • The days of Hajj (8th–13th Dhul Hijjah)
  • The Day of Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah)
  • Eid al-Adha (10th Dhul Hijjah), the Festival of Sacrifice

These days commemorate the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) — his unwavering submission to Allah, the sacrifice of his beloved son, and his journey of Hajj, which millions continue to follow to this day.

📆 Important Dates for 2025 (Estimated):

1st Dhul Hijjah: Expected to begin Sunday 1st June 2025

Day of Arafah: Monday 9th June 2025

Eid al-Adha: Tuesday 10th June 2025

Last day of the 10 days: Tuesday 10th June 2025

(Please note: Dates may vary depending on moon sightings)

✨ How is Dhul Hijjah Different from Ramadhan?

While Ramadhan focuses on fasting, reflection, and the Qur’an, Dhul Hijjah emphasises action — good deeds, charity, sacrifice, and remembrance. These ten days are the only time where all five pillars of Islam can be observed at once:

Shahadah (faith)

Salah (prayer)

Sawm (fasting on the Day of Arafah)

Zakah/Sadaqah (giving charity)

Hajj (pilgrimage)

🌟 How to Make the Most of Dhul Hijjah:

Fast the first 9 days (especially the Day of Arafah)

Increase your dhikr – say SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar

Give regular charity – a powerful way to earn continuous reward

Make sincere du'a – these are days when duas are accepted

Offer Qurbani – following the Sunnah of Ibrahim (AS)

Support causes that uplift the vulnerable

💞 Why Give to SWAN This Dhul Hijjah?

At SWAN, your donations:

Feed hungry families through weekly food banks in South London

Serve hot meals at our local soup kitchens

Empower vulnerable women and children through shelter, support, and education

Extend across borders, reaching those struggling in poverty and crisis abroad

You can multiply your reward by giving ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) that continues to benefit others — and you — long after Dhul Hijjah ends.

🌿 A Final Reminder:

The door of reward is wide open during Dhul Hijjah. Let’s not let these precious days pass us by.

Don’t wait. Give generously. Give regularly. Give for the sake of Allah.

🤍 Be the reason someone eats, sleeps safely, or finds hope again.

🎁 Make your Dhul Hijjah count – in this life and the next.
