Fundraising Story
Bringing Daily Bread to Syria’s Hungry
Hunger in Syria is not just a crisis. It is an everyday struggle for survival. More than a decade of conflict has devastated the economy, destroyed infrastructure, and displaced millions. Today, over 12 million Syrians—more than half the population—are food insecure, with 2.9 million on the brink of famine. Families face rising food prices, limited access to bakeries, and widespread poverty.
Bread is a staple in Syrian households, yet for many, it is becoming unaffordable. With 90% of the population living in poverty, securing a basic meal is an immense challenge. Many families go without, children go to bed hungry, and communities are left struggling to find nourishment.
The SWAN Bakery Project
SWAN is launching a non-profit bakery in Syria to produce affordable, high-quality bread for families in need. This project will operate on a sustainable model, selling bread at a discounted rate to cover operational costs while distributing a portion of daily production for free to the most vulnerable.
With the right equipment, this bakery will produce 1,300 packs of bread per hour, ensuring thousands of people receive this essential food source every day.
