About us

Ramadan: a month of global impact and generosity

Ramadan is a sacred month of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth for Muslims around the world. It is a time when hearts soften, faith deepens, and generosity flourishes. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) described Ramadan as the month where “the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained”* (Sahih al-Bukhari).

One of the greatest virtues of Ramadan is charity (sadaqah), as giving to those in need carries multiplied rewards. The Prophet (ﷺ) was described as being “the most generous of people, and he was even more generous in Ramadan” (Sahih al-Bukhari). In this blessed month, every good deed is multiplied by 70 (Sunan Ibn Majah 1642), making it the perfect time to increase acts of kindness, prayer, and generosity.

Maximise your rewards - transform lives across the world

Last Ramadan in 2024, SWAN with the support of our donors were able to provide: thousands of meals across the world; hampers for domestic violence victims in the UK, food packs, zakat, water, and even Eid gifts in Gaza as well as our ongoing projects.

Ramadan500: Turn your generosity into lasting impact

This Ramadan, let’s come together to make a difference—one small, consistent act of kindness at a time. We’re launching the Ramadan500 Campaign with a powerful goal: 500 people committing to just £10 per week for the blessed month of Ramadan. That’s only £40 in total, but when multiplied by 500, it becomes a life-changing £100,000 for those in need.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small.” (Muslim)

Ramadan is a month where our good deeds carry even greater weight, and what better way to seek reward than by setting up a regular act of charity? Small, steady donations don’t just change lives, they build futures. SWAN itself has grown through initiatives like SWAN500 and other standing orders and in honour of that we launch Ramadan500 this year. Thanks to the power of consistent giving, our food banks, soup kitchens, and relief efforts have expanded from local UK communities to reaching people in need across the world.

Your generosity will provide food, shelter, medical aid, and essential support to struggling families across the world. Real people, real lives - transformed through your kindness. Set up your £10/week direct debit today, and as a token of our gratitude, you’ll be entered into exclusive prize draws and featured as a valued supporter of SWAN.

Sign up now and make this Ramadan truly special—for yourself and for those in need.

Donate to help children like Alma

“When our home was bombed, Alma and I were buried under the rubble for 24 hours. It’s a miracle we survived.” Alma and her mother were then living in a home without a ceiling, struggling to find water, food, and medical aid when they suffered from skin conditions. Alma, suffering from this also began to suffer from malnutrition and bow legs from calcium deficiency. SWAN’s family grant programme has allowed Alma’s mum to purchase food, medicine, and hygiene products. "No words can express our gratitude," she says. "I pray for everyone at SWAN for allowing us to eat and have the basics. It helps us so much, and it helps my mental state.“

Every act of charity, no matter how small, carries immense reward
